 We're mid way through September in New Hampshire. The nights are getting cooler, the leaves are changing color, and our apples are about ready to be picked. To celebrate the coming of fall, we're sharing our family's recipe for apple crisp.  Ingredients 4-5 apples, peeled and sliced 3/4 cups brown sugar 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 cup rolled oats 1/3 cup softened butter 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice Vanilla ice cream, optional DirectionsPeel and core the apples, then slice them thinly.
